Everyone adored Miss France Iris Mittenaere's answer in the final question and answer portion in yesterday's Miss Universe about coping with failure. It ultimately lead to her victory, ending the country's 63 years of title drought.
But people who were fluent in French knew that her answer was mistranslated by the interpreter, resulting in raised eyebrows about the interpreter's skills.
One of those people is celebrity chef Erwan Heussaf.
The Filipino-French brother of Solenn Heussaf and fiance of Anne Curtis quickly posted the accurate translation of Iris' answer on his Twitter account.
According to the interpreter: "I've failed several times in my life, so I thought that I failed the first time that I went out on a casting, because my name wasn't on the list. The very next day, I found that I was in a new book. So I think that when you fail, you have to be elevated, you have to try again, and keep going. If tonight, I'm not one of the winners, I will still have the great honor of being one of the 3 finalists, so I think that I have failed before, but I think this is a great first opportunity."
However, people who are fluent in French understood that she failed her medical school.
Erwan's translation became viral on social media.
Despite this, the crown still went to the European beauty while Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier was crowned as the first runner-up.CLICK PAGE 2 TO WATCH THE VIDEO
