Nowadays, we can refer to love as digital. There are a lot of people who found their perfect match online and through social media networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and many more. The feeling of meeting the person online and talking to each other to share personal experiences makes you fall in love. What excites you more is meeting your online partner in person for the very first time. However, not all first meet ups turn out to be successful.
Alexander Pieter Cirk, a 41- year old Dutchman, flew all the way from Holland to China just to meet his online girlfriend Ms. Zhang who is 26 years old. Zhang lives in Changsha Hunan Province, South China that is why Alexander took the courage to fly abroad just to see his 2- month girlfriend.
He arrived at the airport but no trace of Zhang appeared to meet him or pick him up. He was too optimistic so he waited for her for 10 days, but due to exhaustion, Alexander passed out. He had lacked of sleep, food intake, and severe diabetes.
Ms. Zhang has been reached by news reporters and said she thought her boyfriend was only joking when he showed her the photos of his plane tickets to China. She said she was in Zhengzhou for plastic surgery treatment during Alexander’s 10-day stay in the airport. She also said she turned off her phone.
Alexander finally had the chance to speak with Ms. Zhang and was told it was inconvenient for to return to Changsha so she just asked the medical staff to take care of him for the mean time. Updates on when Alexander will be discharged are not yet provided.
Three women were kind-hearted enough to help Alexander and look after him while recovering.
Do you think Ms. Zhang still has any intention of seeing Alexander in person? Or Alexander is now waiting for nothing?
