The Philippines is home to some of the weirdest creatures on the planet. Due to our lush greenery and tropical weather, wildlife thrives especially in the countryside.
In an episode of GMA Network’s Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS), a gigantic python or more commonly known as “sawa” was reported lurking in the mountain ranges of Sierra Madre.
According to the townsfolk of the area, the particular snake was being hunted since it is notorious for eating their livestock. Legend even claims that it is capable of devouring people.
Finally, the snake was caught. Proof of its existence was documented when Thomas Headland, an international anthropologist, took photos of the said creature.
In the photo, 7 people were shown holding the snake’s skin which measures 7 meters long. When the snake was captured, the townsfolk weighed it at 75 kilos. Headland said that the snake was a reticulated python which could grow bigger if it continues to feed.
The snake was even once considered as the “Third Largest Python” in the world.
Edna, one of the natives from the community, claimed she was part of those 7 people who held the dead snake back in 1970.
She said that her father was the one who hunted and eventually killed the snake to prevent it from killing more of their livestock and their fellowmen.
