However, some researchers have warned that drinking coffee in the morning on an empty stomach may lead to serious complications down the line.
Here are some of the issues that come with drinking coffee without any food in your stomach.
1) Stomach Acid
The human stomach contains hydrochloric acid – which helps digest food at the proper levels
Apparently, drinking a cup of coffee on an empty stomach secretes more acid in your digestive tract which is very problematic.
On an empty stomach, this acid has nothing to do but gurgle around. This is a major cause of abdominal discomfort like acid reflux.
Eventually too much stomach acid might cause damage to your digestive system - leading to conditions like heartburn, stomach ulcers, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Longevity Coffee is a natural, low-acid type of coffee that will lower the quantity of acid your stomach may produce. However consuming Longevity Coffee on an empty stomach is ill-advised as well.
Drinking coffee in the morning without food in your belly increases the volume of fluid your body passes. This can end up dehydrating your body.
Quenching your thirst in the morning with coffee may not be such a good idea.
Breakfast is important in the morning because if you go through your day without eating then your brain has a reduced capacity to process serotonin. If your brain cant process this chemical properly then it’ll cause depression and anxiety.
Drinking coffee on an empty stomach could cause anxiety, boost cortisol and adrenaline in the blood. It’ll leave you weak, nervous and fidgety
4) Loss of Appetite
Ironically drinking coffee before breakfast may remove your appetite altogether. Although coffee has that effect – which is why it’s effective in helping you lose weight – eating breakfast is actually very important.
Eventually, skipping breakfast and drinking more coffee could cause you to actually gain more weight in the end.
