Astral projection is an esoteric term that describes how a person can willfully experience and create an out-of-body experience (OBE).
This method supposedly allows a soul or consciousness (the so-called "astral body") to separate from the physical body and helps it travel throughout the universe.
Historically, many civilizations and cultures have been involved with astral projecting from the ancient Egyptians and Greeks to the Japanese and Indians.
Documents say it is a way to experience knowledge and feelings beyond our physical limitations.
There are those who believe that the human consciousness has no limits – and that astral projection is a way for us to explore beyond what we can observe in this universe, reality and places beyond our wildest imaginings.

Many practitioners of astral projection claims that said this exercise is totally safe. All you need is to relax, keep a clear mind, and know that you always have full control. You’ll only need to think about returning to your physical body to return to it.
Here are the seven steps of the rope technique:
Step 1: Relax – Meditate
Relax your mind and body.
You can choose to meditate if you wish or perform a series of very deep, very slow breaths in and out. Remember to inhale deeply and avoid taking shallow breaths.
If you know good body relaxation methods or meditation then feel free to do it. If not then you can tense your muscles and release them one at a time. Start from your toes and work your way to the top of your head.
Step 2: Enter into a hypnotic state
After relaxing completely you’ll need to enter a hypnotic state. This is when your mind is at the edge of sleep and being awake. Don’t dive further or else you’ll just fall asleep!
Lie down, focus on an object and stare at it until you can perfectly visualize it even with closed eyes.
Step 3: Enter a deeper state of relaxation
Now it’s time to enter a deeper state of relaxation. Keep your eyes closed and while still visualizing your chosen object. However, now you look around while you keep your eyes closed.
Gaze into the darkness.
Moments may pass and you may see light patterns flicker and dance across your eyes. Just ignore them and they’ll vanish eventually.
Once they disappear completely then you’ve entered a deeper state of relaxation. At this point, you’ll no longer be aware of your physical body as you are now in a deeper level of relaxation.
As soon as you reach this level, it’s time for step 4.
Step 4: Enter a state of vibration
This is the most vital step and it’s when you enter into a state of vibration.
It may take a longer while if you’re new to astral projection. If you start feeling vibrations around your body then your astral form has begun to leave your physical body.
Recognize this feeling and allow yourself to feel the vibrations.
Step 5: Control the vibrations
Now focus on the vibrations as they reverberate throughout your body. Use your willpower and control them with your thoughts. As you feel them, try to control the waves by stopping and starting them again as well as the frequency of the waves.
After you master the manipulation of the frequency and are confident that you can summon them when needed then you’ll be ready for step 6.
Step 6: Imagine the rope
Here is where you will exert your control and willpower. Imagine a long rope hanging right above you. Without opening your eyes or moving your physical body, visualize yourself reaching up towards the rope.
Once you grab a hold of the rope, bring your hand back into your physical body, slow down the vibrations, and end the session.
Upon becoming fully alert and awakened – then it’s time to go to the final step.
Step 7: Repeat the same steps but now try releasing your whole astral body
The previous steps describe a partial separation of your astral hand. Now you’re ready to try the whole body. Repeat the previous 6 steps. However, this time don't stop with just one hand.
Imagine your other hand coming out of your physical body and reaching for the rope. Imagine that you’re slowly pulling yourself up on the rope by placing hand over hand on the rope.
You might feel slightly dizzy at this point and you’ll feel the vibrations buzz at a higher frequency.
At this point, some people might feel paralyzed sensation and shrink back into their physical bodies. However, strengthen your willpower and concentrate on climbing the rope.
Eventually, you’ll feel your entire consciousness separating from your physical form.
Congratulations, you’re free! You will notice that you’ll be hovering over your body at this point – a true out-of-body experience that you control!
