During the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, everyone was scared of nuclear war. Most casualties of war are civilians, the regular people caught in the middle of the conflict. Nuclear war would ensure that only a few, if any at all, will survive. War, as we all know, never changes.
The end of the world. Doomsday. These words ring truer now than ever before. Our climate is rapidly changing and is about to reach a tipping point. Once we reach that phase, there is no going back. Our world will have already been irreparably damaged. Perhaps nuclear war may not end humanity. Perhaps it will be the Earth itself that puts an end to us.
How can humanity live on when the very world we are living in is dangerously close to turning uninhabitable? How can humanity survive if - or perhaps when – we decide to drop nukes on each other?CONTINUE READING ON PAGE 2
Well, ask no more because YouTube channel “Did You Know?” just released a video report about humanity’s potential Noah’s Ark.
Hidden in the mountains of Colorado Springs in the U.S.A. is a secure military facility cleverly designed to withstand “direct nuclear attacks.” It’s called the Cheyenne Mountain Complex and the U.S. Army has opened the place to the public.
The US Department of Defense opened it in 1966 as a command and control center. Thus, the facility has the ability to withstand potential nuclear strikes from the Soviet Union. It was designed, after all, during the height of the Cold War. The facility’s buildings are made of battleship steel, which makes it earthquake-proof. It’s also fully equipped with back-up generators in order to deal with inevitable blackouts in the event of a catastrophe.
If it sounds or looks familiar, that’s because the facility has been featured in numerous movies, including “Dr. Strangelove,” “WarGames,” and “Terminator 3,” just to name a few.
Nowadays, the Cheyenne Mountain Complex has a new function – to collect information from satellites and ground-based sensors from all over the world.
